Regulations
Regulations for our industry are fairly intense. We try to be pro-active in understanding and applying all rules and regulations we fall under. Mr. Perry has personally been involved in numerous discussions about State & Local regulations in an effort to make them as safe yet inexpensive to follow and administer as possible. He frequently receives calls from news outlets and other pesticide applicators for clarification and assistance in understanding them. He also works closely with some national groups, including Applicator and Manufacturing associations in effecting decisions made on the local, state and national level.
Below is an abbreviated list of some of our oversight agencies:
FEDERAL – EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
Enforces Federal Laws such as FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) under which pesticide labels and usage are governed. And when we do Nurseries or Greenhouses, PWPS (Pesticide Worker Protection Standard) regulations must be met.
STATE of ALASKA – DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation)
Enforces on behalf of EPA and all State regulations contained in Chapter 90 of Title 18 Alaska Code. We receive frequent inspections, both of our pesticide records, storage, safety AND on site reviews of our applications. They also respond to complaints or concerns raised by others regarding our operations.
MUNICIPALITY OF ANCHORAGE – HHS (Health & Human Services)
Enforces pesticide codes under Title 15 (15.75) which are unique to MOA.
